About Igbo Lesson Notes
Igbo is a Nigerian language, and these notes treat it as a primary school subject taught through the language itself. They cover spoken and written Igbo, from greetings (Ekele) and numbers (Onuogugu) to consonants and vowels, singular and plural, countable and uncountable nouns, phrases and clauses, and punctuation.
Culture runs through the topics too. Pupils meet Igbo foods, the kola nut (Oji), dress (Ejiji), proverbs (Ilu), riddles (Agwugwa), songs and poems (Abu na Uri), and customs such as Omugwo. Later notes add reading comprehension, short compositions and letter writing.
What students learn
By the end of Basic 6, a student who has worked through these notes should be able to:
- Greet people in the Igbo way and respond correctly to greetings
- Count, read and write Igbo numbers up to 500
- Identify consonants and vowels, singular and plural forms, and countable and uncountable nouns
- Form simple sentences and recognise phrases and clauses
- Use punctuation marks correctly in written Igbo
- Read a short passage and answer comprehension questions on it
- Write a short composition and a simple letter in Igbo
- Describe Igbo customs such as the kola nut, traditional foods, dress and Omugwo, and say simple proverbs and songs
What each class covers
Every topic is a separate lesson note, listed here in teaching order. Open any topic, or the term, to read it.

How we prepare our lesson notes
Each note covers one topic for one class and one term, and the notes follow the order in which the topics are taught. Every note has behavioural objectives, the lesson content in short sections, evaluation questions and an assignment drawn from the same note.
Notes are edited for accuracy, plain language and the right level for the class before they are published.
Every note is free to read online. A PDF or Word copy of one subject costs ₦1,000 for one term, or ₦2,000 for all three terms. If you find a mistake, tell us and we will correct it.
