Topic: Colour & Types of Basic Colours

Learning Objectives

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  • Explain and trace the origin of colour
  • Identify the basic colours (Red, Yellow and Blue) in/outside the classroom
  • Relate the basic colours with objects in/outside the classroom

Introduction

Colors make our world beautiful! Today we will learn about the basic colors that create all other colors.

Content

What is Color? Color is what we see when light bounces off objects. Colors make things beautiful and help us identify objects.

The Three Basic Colors (Primary Colors):

  1. RED – like blood, tomatoes, roses

YELLOW – like the sun, bananas, lemons

BLUE – like the sky, ocean, blueberries

Where Colors Come From:

  • Colors come from light
  • The sun gives us light that contains all colors
  • When light hits objects, we see different colors

Examples in the Classroom:

  • Red: Fire extinguisher, some books

  • Yellow: Some chairs, pencils, flowers

 

  • Blue: Some uniforms, sky through the window

Activity

  1. Color the sun YELLOW
  2. Color the sky BLUE
  3. Color an apple RED
  4. Find objects in the classroom with these colors
