Topic: Types Of Objects And Shapes

Learning Objectives

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  • Distinguish objects of different sizes in/outside the classroom
  • Draw objects of various sizes and shapes (small and big)
  • Identify types and size of objects around them

Introduction

Not all objects are the same size. Some objects are big, some are small. Today we will learn about different sizes of objects.

Content

Sizes of Objects: Objects come in different sizes:

  • Big objects – take up more space
  • Small objects – take up less space

Examples:

  • Small chair vs Big chair

  • Small cup vs Big cup

  • Small rectangle vs Big rectangle
  • Small circle vs Big circle

Comparing Sizes: We can compare objects by looking at:

  • Height (tall or short)
  • Width (wide or narrow)
  • Length (long or short)

Activity

  1. Look around the classroom
  2. Find one big object and one small object
  3. Draw them and label as “BIG” or “SMALL”
  4. Compare a big book with a small book
