Topic: Brief History of Prophet Nūh (AS)

Learning Objectives

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  1. Narrate the life history of Prophet Nūh
  2. Examine his quality of endurance
  3. Discuss the result of his obedience and the disobedience of his son and the people

Materials Needed

  • Story book about Prophet Nūh
  • Pictures of a big boat/ark
  • Blue cloth or paper (to represent water/flood)
  • Small toy animals for demonstration

Introduction

  • Islamic greeting: “Assalamu Alaikum”
  • Ask pupils: “Have you ever seen a very big boat?”
  • Show picture of a large ship
  • Tell pupils about a Prophet who built a very special boat
  • Introduce Prophet Nūh (Noah) and his amazing story

Who Was Prophet Nūh (AS)?

About Prophet Nūh:

  • Prophet Nūh was one of the great Prophets of Allah
  • He lived a very long time ago
  • Allah chose him to guide his people to the right path
  • He was known for being very patient and never giving up
  • He is mentioned many times in the Qur’ān

Prophet Nūh’s Mission

His People’s Problems:

  • The people of Nūh worshipped idols (statues) instead of Allah
  • They thought these statues could help them
  • They were unkind to each other
  • They did not listen to good advice
  • They had forgotten about Allah

Nūh’s Message:

  • “Worship only Allah, not statues”
  • “Be kind to one another”
  • “Ask Allah for forgiveness”
  • “Stop doing bad things”
  • “Follow the right path”

Prophet Nūh’s Quality of Endurance

How Long He Preached:

  • Prophet Nūh called his people to Allah for 950 years!
  • That is a very, very long time
  • Every day he tried to teach them
  • He never got tired of trying
  • He never gave up, even when people were mean to him

Different Ways He Tried:

  • He spoke to them during the day
  • He spoke to them at night
  • He spoke to them in groups
  • He spoke to them one by one
  • He was always gentle and kind

How People Treated Him:

  • They laughed at him
  • They called him crazy
  • They threw things at him
  • They refused to listen
  • But he remained patient and continued his mission

Allah’s Command to Build the Ark

The Special Boat:

  • Allah told Nūh to build a very big boat (called an ark)
  • Nūh had never built a boat before, but he obeyed Allah
  • People laughed at him for building a boat far from the sea
  • Allah taught him how to make it strong and waterproof
  • The boat was big enough for many people and animals

Preparing for the Flood:

  • Allah told Nūh to take pairs of all animals
  • He was to take believing people with him
  • Only a few people believed in Nūh’s message
  • His own wife and one of his sons did not believe
  • This made Nūh very sad, but he still obeyed Allah

The Great Flood

What Happened:

  • Heavy rain started falling from the sky
  • Water came up from under the ground
  • The whole earth was covered with water
  • Only those in Nūh’s ark were safe
  • The flood lasted for many days

Results of Obedience and Disobedience:

Those Who Obeyed (Results of Obedience):

  • Prophet Nūh and his family (except wife and one son) were saved
  • The believers who entered the ark were rescued
  • All the animals were protected
  • They started a new life after the flood
  • Allah blessed them for their faith

Those Who Disobeyed (Results of Disobedience):

  • The people who rejected Nūh’s message drowned
  • Nūh’s wife, who did not believe, was not saved
  • Nūh’s son, who refused to enter the ark, drowned
  • All the idol worshippers perished
  • Their disobedience led to their destruction

Lessons from Prophet Nūh’s Life

Important Lessons:

  1. Patience and Perseverance: Never give up doing good
  2. Obedience to Allah: Always follow Allah’s commands
  3. Consequences of Choices: Good choices bring good results, bad choices bring problems
  4. Family vs. Faith: Sometimes even family members make wrong choices
  5. Allah’s Justice: Allah punishes those who do wrong and rewards those who do right
  6. Trust in Allah: Even when things seem impossible, trust Allah’s plan

Activity Time

Discuss times when pupils need to be patient like Prophet Nūh.
