What Are Jinn?

Jinn are special beings that Allah created. They are:

• Made from smokeless fire
• Invisible to humans (we cannot see them)
• Living beings like humans and animals
• Given free will to choose between good and bad
• Mentioned in the Qur’ān by Allah

Types of Jinn

Good Jinn:

• Believe in Allah and worship Him
• Follow the teachings of Prophets
• Do good deeds
• Help people sometimes

Bad Jinn (Shayāṭīn/Devils):

• Disobey Allah
• Try to make people do wrong things
• Led by Iblīs (Satan)
• Whisper bad thoughts to people

Differences Between Jinn and Humans

What the Qur’ān Says About Jinn

• Allah created jinn to worship Him
• Some jinn believed in Prophet Muhammad
• Surah Al-Jinn (Chapter 72) talks about them
• Prophet Sulaiman (Solomon) could control jinn
• Jinn will be judged by Allah on Judgment Day

How to Protect Ourselves

From Bad Jinn:

• Read Āyat al-Kursī (Verse of the Throne)
• Say “A’ūdhu billāhi min ash-shayṭānir-rajīm” (I seek refuge in Allah from Satan)
• Recite Sūrat al-Falaq and Sūrat an-Nās
• Always say “Bismillāh” before doing things
• Keep doing good deeds and praying

Remember: Good jinn don’t harm people, and Allah protects us from bad ones when we remember Him.
