Persecution in Makkah

What is Persecution? Persecution means being treated badly, hurt, or made to suffer because of what you believe.

Why Were People Mean to the Prophet?

• Prophet Muhammad taught people to worship only Allah
• The people of Makkah worshipped many idols (statues)
• They were angry because Islam was different from their old ways
• Rich people were afraid they would lose money and power

How They Persecuted the Prophet:

• They called him bad names
• They threw stones and dirt at him
• They put thorns in his path
• They tried to stop people from listening to him
• They boycotted him (refused to buy or sell to Muslims)
• They tortured his followers

The Plan to Kill the Prophet

The Evil Plan:

• The leaders of Makkah made a plan to kill Prophet Muhammad
• They chose one person from each tribe to attack him together
• They planned to kill him at night in his house
• But Allah warned the Prophet about their plan

Allah’s Protection:

• Allah told the Prophet to leave Makkah
• Angel Jibrīl came with the message
• The Prophet knew it was time for Hijrah (migration)

The Hijrah Journey

Leaving Makkah:

• Prophet Muhammad left his house at night
• His cousin Ali slept in his bed to trick the enemies
• The Prophet went to Abu Bakr’s house
• Together they left Makkah secretly

The Journey:

• They traveled to Madinah (then called Yathrib)
• They hid in a cave called Thawr for three days
• Allah protected them – a spider made a web at the cave entrance
• A bird made its nest there too
• The enemies came looking but didn’t check the cave

Arriving in Madinah:

• The people of Madinah welcomed the Prophet
• They were happy to see him
• They helped him build the first mosque
• This was the beginning of the Islamic calendar

What We Learn

• Patience: The Prophet was patient during difficult times
• Trust in Allah: Allah always protects those who believe
• Helping others: The people of Madinah helped the Prophet
• Never give up: Even when things are hard, keep believing in Allah
