Arabic Text and Recitation

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ Bismillāhir-rahmānir-rahīm

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ Alhamdu lillāhi rabbil-ālamīn

الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ Ar-rahmānir-rahīm

مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ Māliki yaumid-dīn

إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ Iyyāka na’budu wa iyyāka nasta’īn

اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ Ihdinās-sirātal-mustaqīm

صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ Sirātal-ladhīna an’amta alayhim ghayril-maghḍūbi alayhim wa laḍ-ḍāllīn

English Translation

Verse 1: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Verse 2: All praise is for Allah, Lord of all the worlds

Verse 3: The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Verse 4: Master of the Day of Judgment

Verse 5: You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help

Verse 6: Guide us to the straight path

Verse 7: The path of those You have blessed, not of those who have earned anger, nor of those who have gone astray

Importance of Süratul-Fātihah

Why It’s Special:

• It’s called “Ummul-Qur’ān” (Mother of the Qur’ān)
• It’s the opening chapter of the Qur’ān
• It contains a complete prayer to Allah
• Prophet Muhammad called it “the greatest sūrah”

What It Teaches Us:

• To praise Allah
• To ask Allah for help
• To pray for guidance
• To remember the Day of Judgment

Uses of Süratul-Fātihah

1. In Daily Prayers (Salāh):

• We recite it in every unit (rak’ah) of prayer
• Prayer is not complete without it

2. For Seeking Allah’s Help:

• When we need guidance
• When we face difficulties
• When we want Allah’s blessings

3. For Healing:

• Some people recite it when sick
• It brings comfort and hope

4. Before Starting Important Things:

• Before eating
• Before studying
• Before traveling

What We Learned

• Süratul-Fātihah has 7 verses and is the opening of the Qur’ān
