Topic: 25 Names Prophets Mentioned In The Qur’an

Learning Objectives

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  1. Recall the names of these Prophets of Allah: Idris, Ibrahim, Ismail, Is-haq, Yusuf (AS)
  2. Assess the function performed by these Prophets of Allah
  3. Cite relevant verses from the Qur’ān

Materials Needed

  • Chart with Prophets’ names
  • Picture illustrations of the Prophets
  • Qur’ān or printed verses
  • Story books about the Prophets

Introduction

  • Islamic greeting: “Assalamu Alaikum”
  • Ask pupils: “Who teaches people about Allah?”
  • Explain that Allah sent special people called Prophets to guide humanity
  • Tell pupils we will learn about five great Prophets today

What is a Prophet?

A Prophet (Nabi) is a special person chosen by Allah to teach people about Islam and guide them to the right path. Allah sent many Prophets to different communities.

The Five Prophets We Will Learn

  1. Prophet Idris (AS) – إدريس
  • Who he was: One of the early Prophets sent by Allah
  • His function: He taught people to worship only Allah
  • Special quality: He was very knowledgeable and patient
  • Qur’anic reference: “And mention in the Book, Idris. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.” (Qur’ān 19:56)
  1. Prophet Ibrahim (AS) – إبراهيم
  • Who he was: Known as the friend of Allah (Khalil Allah)
  • His function: He fought against idol worship and taught Tawheed (Oneness of Allah)
  • Special quality: He was very obedient to Allah
  • Qur’anic reference: “And mention in the Book about Ibrahim. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.” (Qur’ān 19:41)
  1. Prophet Ismail (AS) – إسماعيل
  • Who he was: Son of Prophet Ibrahim
  • His function: He helped his father spread Islam and build the Ka’bah
  • Special quality: He was very obedient to his father and Allah
  • Qur’anic reference: “And mention in the Book, Ismail. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet.” (Qur’ān 19:54)
  1. Prophet Is-haq (AS) – إسحاق
  • Who he was: Another son of Prophet Ibrahim
  • His function: He continued his father’s mission of teaching people about Allah
  • Special quality: He was righteous and wise
  • Qur’anic reference: “And We gave him Is-haq and Ya’qub in addition; all [of them] We made righteous.” (Qur’ān 21:72)
  1. Prophet Yusuf (AS) – يوسف
  • Who he was: Son of Prophet Ya’qub, great-grandson of Ibrahim
  • His function: He taught people in Egypt about worshipping Allah alone
  • Special quality: He was very handsome, truthful, and forgiving
  • Qur’anic reference: “Indeed, in Yusuf and his brothers are signs for those who ask.” (Qur’ān 12:7)

Functions All Prophets Performed

  1. Teaching people about Allah: They told people to worship only Allah
  2. Guiding to good behavior: They showed people how to be kind and honest
  3. Warning about wrong actions: They advised people to stop bad habits
  4. Setting good examples: They lived their lives as perfect models
  5. Bringing Allah’s message: They delivered what Allah wanted people to know
