DEFINITION OF MARITAL FAILURE

Marital Failure is when a marriage breaks down and the couple can no longer live together peacefully, often leading to separation or divorce.

Forms of Marital Failure:

• Divorce (legal end of marriage)
• Separation (living apart)
• Constant fighting
• Loveless marriage
• Domestic violence

REASONS FOR MARITAL FAILURE

1. INFIDELITY (Cheating):

• Husband or wife having affairs
• Breaks trust
• Causes pain
• Major reason for divorce

2. LACK OF COMMUNICATION:

• Not talking to each other
• Keeping secrets
• Not sharing feelings

3. FINANCIAL PROBLEMS:

RISKY SEXUAL BEHAVIORS:

1. MULTIPLE SEXUAL PARTNERS:

• Having many boyfriends/girlfriends
• Sleeping with different people
• Increases risk of infection

2. UNPROTECTED SEX:

• Sex without condom
• Not knowing partner’s status
• High risk of transmission

3. INFIDELITY IN MARRIAGE:

• Cheating on spouse
• Bringing disease home
• Infecting innocent partner

PREVENTION:

A-B-C METHOD:

• A = Abstinence (No sex – safest)
• B = Be Faithful (One partner only)
• C = Condom (Use protection)
