LEARNING OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

DEFINITIONS

INTERMARRIAGE (Inter-ethnic Marriage): Marriage between people from different ethnic groups, tribes, or cultures.

Example:

  • Yoruba man marrying Igbo woman

  • Hausa woman marrying Edo man

  • Nigerian marrying foreigner

INTRA-ETHNIC MARRIAGE: Marriage between people from the same ethnic group or tribe.

Example:

  • Yoruba marrying Yoruba
  • Igbo marrying Igbo
  • Hausa marrying Hausa

ADVANTAGES OF INTERMARRIAGE
