• Name the two types of culture
• Give examples of each type of culture

LESSON CONTENT

What is Culture?

Culture is the way of life of people.

It is how people live, dress, eat, speak and do things in their community.

Types of Culture

There are TWO types of culture:

1. MATERIAL CULTURE

These are things we can see and touch:

• Houses and buildings
• Clothes and shoes
• Food and drinks
• Cars and bicycles
• Books and toys

2. NON-MATERIAL CULTURE

These are things we cannot see or touch:

• Language (how we speak)
• Songs and music
• Dance and festivals
• Religion and beliefs
• Good behavior and manners

Both types make up our culture.
