  1. Why Jesus Gave His Life for Us

Because of God’s Great Love

God Loves All People:

  • God created every person and loves them
  • His love is perfect and never changes
  • God loves us even when we do wrong things
  • His love is greater than any human love

Jesus Shares God’s Love:

  • Jesus is God’s Son who has the same love
  • He loves people the way God the Father loves
  • Jesus came to earth to show God’s love
  • His love motivated Him to save us

Bible Verse: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16)

Because We Are Sinners Who Need Salvation

All People Have Sinned:

  • Everyone has done wrong things that displease God
  • Sin separates us from God’s holy presence
  • We cannot save ourselves from sin
  • Sin leads to spiritual death and separation from God

The Punishment for Sin:

  • Sin must be punished because God is just
  • The penalty for sin is death
  • We deserve to be punished for our wrongdoing
  • Without help, we would be lost forever

Jesus Took Our Punishment:

  • Jesus died on the cross in our place
  • He received the punishment we deserved
  • Jesus paid the price for our sins
  • His death satisfied God’s justice

Bible Verse: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8)

To Give Us Eternal Life

What Eternal Life Means:

  • Living forever with God in heaven
  • Having a relationship with God that never ends
  • Being free from sin and its consequences
  • Experiencing perfect joy and peace forever

How Jesus’ Death Gives Us Life:

  • His death paid for our sins
  • His resurrection conquered death
  • Now we can be forgiven and live with God
  • Death is no longer the end for believers

Bible Verse: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23)

To Defeat Satan and Evil

Satan’s Power Over Sin:

  • Satan uses sin to control and destroy people
  • He wants people to be separated from God
  • Satan brings death, sadness, and hopelessness
  • He is God’s enemy and our enemy

Jesus’ Victory:

  • Jesus defeated Satan by dying and rising again
  • His death broke Satan’s power over believers
  • Jesus rescued us from Satan’s kingdom
  • Now we can live in God’s kingdom of light

Bible Verse: “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work” (1 John 3:8)

To Show Us How Much We Are Worth to God

God Values Us Highly:

  • God thought we were worth saving
  • He was willing to give His most precious Son
  • Jesus’ death proves how much God loves each person
  • We are so valuable that God paid the highest price

We Are Special to God:

  • God knows each person by name
  • He cares about our problems and needs
  • God wants to have a relationship with each of us
  • Jesus died for you personally, not just for everyone in general

To Set an Example of Perfect Love

Jesus Showed Us True Love:

  • His love was completely unselfish
  • He thought of others before Himself
  • Jesus loved even His enemies
  • His love was stronger than fear of death

We Should Follow His Example:

  • We should love others sacrificially
  • We should be willing to help others even when it costs us
  • We should put others’ needs before our own wants
  • We should forgive those who hurt us

Bible Verse: “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters” (1 John 3:16)

To Bring Us Back to God

Sin Separated Us from God:

  • Our sins created a barrier between us and God
  • We couldn’t reach God by our own efforts
  • The gap was too wide for us to cross
  • We needed someone to build a bridge

Jesus Is the Bridge:

  • His death opened the way back to God
  • Now we can pray to God and He hears us
  • We can have peace with God instead of being His enemies
  • Jesus reconciled us to God

Bible Verse: “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:18)

Because He Chose to Love Us

Jesus’ Choice:

  • No one forced Jesus to die for us
  • He voluntarily chose to give His life
  • Jesus could have called angels to save Him
  • He stayed on the cross because He wanted to save us

His Willing Sacrifice:

  • Jesus knew He would suffer but did it anyway
  • He was obedient to God’s plan of salvation
  • Jesus endured the pain because He loved us
  • His sacrifice was given freely and gladly

Bible Verse: “No one takes my life from me, but I lay it down of my own accord” (John 10:18)
