Topic: Clay Soil

Learning Objectives: By the end of this lesson, pupils should be able to:

collect and identify soil type (clay)
examine to identify the organisms in the soil
describe the texture, color and size of the soil particles

Lesson Content: Clay Soil: Made of very tiny particles that stick together when wet.

Characteristics:

Texture: Smooth and sticky when wet, hard when dry
Color: Red, gray, white, or brown
Particles: Very tiny, cannot see individual grains
Organisms: Fewer earthworms, some bacteria, plant roots
