Introduction:

Hello children! Today we will learn about soil and the many things we can find in it.

Lesson Content:

Things Found in the Soil:

  • Small stones and rocks
  • Dead leaves and twigs
  • Water
  • Air spaces
  • Earthworms and insects
  • Seeds and plant roots
  • Small pieces of wood
  • Sand and clay

Importance of Soil:

  1. For Plants: All plants grow in soil to get food and water
  2. For Food: Farmers use soil to grow our food like yam, rice, and vegetables
  3. For Animals: Many small animals live in the soil
  4. For Building: We use soil to make bricks and pots
  5. For Beauty: We plant flowers in soil to make our homes beautiful

Activity:

Let the children touch and feel soil samples. Ask them to name what they see.
