Introduction:
Hello children! Today we will learn about soil and the many things we can find in it.
Lesson Content:
Things Found in the Soil:
- Small stones and rocks
- Dead leaves and twigs
- Water
- Air spaces
- Earthworms and insects
- Seeds and plant roots
- Small pieces of wood
- Sand and clay
Importance of Soil:
- For Plants: All plants grow in soil to get food and water
- For Food: Farmers use soil to grow our food like yam, rice, and vegetables
- For Animals: Many small animals live in the soil
- For Building: We use soil to make bricks and pots
- For Beauty: We plant flowers in soil to make our homes beautiful
Activity:
Let the children touch and feel soil samples. Ask them to name what they see.
