• locate and identify common animals in their school compound and surroundings
• examine the observable features of animals
• group animals based on their features and behavior

Lesson Content: Common Animals:

• Insects: Ants, bees, butterflies, flies

• Birds: Sparrows, crows, pigeons
• Small mammals: Rats, mice, bats

• Reptiles: Lizards, snakes

• Domestic animals: Dogs, cats, chickens

Animal Features:

• Body covering: Fur, feathers, scales, skin
• Number of legs: No legs, 2 legs, 4 legs, 6 legs
• Movement: Walking, flying, jumping, crawling

Grouping Animals:

• By body covering, by habitat, by food they eat, by how they move
