When Wind Becomes Dangerous
Sometimes the wind can be very strong and cause problems for people and things around us.
Harmful Effects of Strong Wind
- Destroys houses – can blow off roofs and break windows

- Uproots trees – pulls big trees from the ground

- Causes accidents – makes cars and trucks difficult to control
- Spreads fires – makes fire burn faster and wider

- Damages crops – destroys farmers’ plants and food

- Hurts people – can knock people down
- Creates dust storms – fills air with sand and dirt

- Sinks boats – makes big waves on water

How to Stay Safe During Strong Wind
- Stay inside your house
- Close all doors and windows
- Stay away from big trees
- Do not go swimming or near water
- Avoid flying kites or playing outside
