Factors That Hinder Preservation:

  1. Moisture/Humidity
  • Too much water in the air makes food spoil quickly
  • Solution: Use proper drying methods, store in dry places
  1. High Temperature

 

  • Too much heat can spoil food
  • Solution: Store food in cool, shaded areas
  1. Insects and Pests
  • Insects like weevils eat stored food
  • Solution: Use clean containers, inspect food regularly
  1. Poor Storage Containers
  • Damaged bags or containers let in air and pests
  • Solution: Use good-quality containers with tight lids
  1. Dirty Environment
  • Unclean storage areas attract germs and pests
  • Solution: Keep storage areas very clean
  1. Lack of Knowledge
  • Not knowing proper preservation methods
  • Solution: Learn correct preservation techniques
  1. Poor Quality of Produce
  • Starting with already damaged crops
  • Solution: Select only healthy, undamaged produce
