- Justify the reason for preserving farm produce
Lesson Content:
What is Preservation? Preservation means keeping farm produce fresh and preventing it from spoiling or going bad for an extended period.
Why Do We Preserve Farm Produce?

- To prevent spoilage – Stops crops from rotting
- To store food for future use – Have food during dry season
- To reduce waste – Don’t throw away good food
- To make money – Sell preserved foods when fresh ones are scarce
- To maintain nutrients – Keep the good things in food
- To have food all year round – Eat fruits and vegetables even when not in season
Examples of Farm Produce That Need Preservation:
- Fruits: oranges, mangoes, tomatoes

- Vegetables: onions, peppers, leafy vegetables

- Grains: rice, maize, beans

- Tubers: yams, cassava, potatoes
