What is Packaged Water?

Packaged water is clean water that is put in bottles, sachets, or containers for people to buy and drink safely.

Reasons for Packaging Water

Water is packaged to:

  • Keep water clean and safe from dirt
  • Make it portable – easy to carry around
  • Prevent contamination from germs
  • Ensure quality – companies test it first
  • Convenience – ready to drink anytime
  • Long storage – stays fresh for months

Samples of Packaged Water

Common Types:

  • Bottled water – in plastic or glass bottles

  • Sachet water (pure water) – in small plastic bags

  • Can water – in metal containers

  • Gallon water – in big containers for home use

Popular Brands: Eva, Aquafina, Nestlé, Ragolis, Swan

Features of Safe Packaged Water

Look for these signs on good packaged water:

  • NAFDAC number – government approval
  • Expiry date – when it expires
  • Clear packaging – you can see the water
  • Proper sealing – container is tightly closed
  • Company address – where it was made
  • Production date – when it was packaged
