Parts of a Formal Letter:

  1. Sender’s Address (Your address – top right) 
  2. Date (Below sender’s address) 
  3. Receiver’s Address (Person you’re writing to – left side) 
  4. Salutation (Dear Sir/Madam, Dear Mr./Mrs.) 
  5. Subject/Title (What the letter is about) 
  6. Body (Main message – paragraphs) 
  7. Complimentary Close (Yours faithfully/sincerely) 
  8. Signature (Your name)

Sample Letter Topics:

  • Request for school transfer
  • Application for prefect position
  • Complaint about school facilities
  • Request for excuse from school
  • Application for scholarship
