What is an Introduction Paragraph? An introduction paragraph is the first paragraph that:
- Introduces your topic
- Gets the reader’s attention
- Tells what your writing will be about
Good Introduction Techniques:
- Ask a question: “Have you ever wondered why the sky is blue?”
- Share an interesting fact: “Did you know that octopuses have three hearts?”
- Tell a short story: “Last summer, something amazing happened to me.”
- Use descriptive words: “The golden sunset painted the sky in brilliant colors.”
Example Introduction:
Topic: My Favorite Animal
“What animal can change colors, has eight arms, and is incredibly intelligent? The answer is the amazing octopus! This fascinating sea creature has become my favorite animal because of its unique abilities and mysterious nature. In this essay, I will share why octopuses are truly remarkable creatures.”
