Topic: Reading: Passage on National Values

Building a Better Nigeria Through Values

Nigeria is blessed with many natural resources and talented people. However, for our country to develop properly, all citizens must practice good national values. These values help us live together peacefully and build a strong nation.

Honesty is one of our most important values. When people are honest in their dealings, there is trust in society. Honest leaders make good decisions for the country. Honest students study hard and do not cheat in examinations. Honest traders sell quality goods at fair prices.

Patriotism means loving your country and being proud to be Nigerian. Patriotic citizens respect the national flag, sing the national anthem with pride, and work hard to make Nigeria better. They do not destroy public property but instead protect it for future generations.

Unity is essential for Nigeria’s progress. Despite our different tribes, religions, and languages, we must see ourselves as one people. When we are united, we can solve problems together and achieve great things. The motto “Unity, Work and Progress” reminds us that we are stronger together.

Hard work is the key to personal and national success. Lazy people cannot build a great nation. Every Nigerian must work diligently in their chosen field – farming, teaching, trading, or any other honest occupation. Through hard work, we can reduce poverty and create wealth.

When all Nigerians practice these values, our country will become peaceful, prosperous, and respected worldwide. We must start teaching these values to children so they can build the Nigeria of our dreams.
