What Spoils Salah?

- Talking During Prayer
- Don’t: Talk to people while praying
- Don’t: Answer phone calls
- Don’t: Say “hello” to someone
- Exception: You can say “Subhān Allah” to correct the Imam
- Eating or Drinking
- Don’t: Eat food during prayer
- Don’t: Drink water or any liquid
- Don’t: Chew gum
- Remember: Complete your eating before starting prayer
- Too Much Movement
- Don’t: Walk around during prayer
- Don’t: Wave to people
- Don’t: Do unnecessary actions
- Okay: Small movements like adjusting clothes
- Laughing Out Loud
- Don’t: Laugh loudly during prayer
- Don’t: Make funny faces
- Note: Smiling quietly doesn’t spoil prayer
- Breaking Wudu (Ablution)
- Don’t: Pass gas during prayer
- Don’t: Use the bathroom
- If this happens: Stop prayer, make new wudu, start again
- Turning Away from Qiblah
- Don’t: Face away from Makkah direction
- Don’t: Turn your back to Qiblah
- Remember: Always face Makkah during prayer
- Adding or Removing Prayer Parts
- Don’t: Add extra sujud (prostration)
- Don’t: Skip required parts
- Don’t: Change the order of prayer
What Doesn’t Spoil Salah
Small Things That Are Okay:
- Coughing or sneezing
- Crying from fear of Allah
- Small movements (like scratching)
- Thinking about prayer words
- Looking down at the ground
What to Do If You Make a Mistake
If You Talk by Mistake:
- Stop the prayer immediately
- Make wudu again if needed
- Start the prayer from the beginning
If You Move Too Much:
- Try to be still
- Continue the prayer if movement was small
- Restart if movement was too much
If You Forget Something:
- Do Sujud as-Sahw (prostration of forgetfulness) at the end
- Ask an adult to teach you how
How to Keep Your Prayer Good
Before Prayer:
- Make good wudu
- Find quiet place
- Face Qiblah correctly
- Have clean clothes
During Prayer:
- Stay still and quiet
- Focus on Allah
- Say the words correctly
- Follow the prayer steps
What We Learned
