The Sūrah in Arabic

أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِالدِّينِ A-ra’ayta alladhī yukadhdhibu bid-dīn

فَذَٰلِكَ الَّذِي يَدُعُّ الْيَتِيمَ Fa-dhālika alladhī yadu”ul-yatīm

وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ Wa lā yahuḍḍu ‘alā ṭa’āmil-miskīn

What It Means in English

Verse 1: “Have you seen the one who denies the religion?”

Verse 2: “That is the one who pushes away the orphan.”

Verse 3: “And does not encourage feeding the poor person.”

Simple Meaning

The Story: Allah is asking us: “Do you know someone who says they don’t believe in religion?”

What Such a Person Does:

  1. Pushes away orphans – They are mean to children who have no parents
  2. Doesn’t feed poor people – They don’t help hungry people
  3. Doesn’t encourage others to help – They don’t tell others to be kind

What Allah is Teaching:

  • People who don’t believe in Allah are often selfish
  • They don’t care about orphans (children without parents)
  • They don’t help poor people who need food
  • True believers should be kind and helpful

Key Words:

  • Yatīm (يتيم) = Orphan (child with no parents)
  • Miskīn (مسكين) = Poor person
  • Ṭa’ām (طعام) = Food

What We Should Do

Be Different from Bad People:

  • Help orphans – Be kind to children who need care
  • Feed hungry people – Share food with those who need it
  • Encourage others to help too
  • Show we believe in Allah through our actions

What We Learned

  • These verses describe people who don’t truly believe in religion
  • Such people are mean to orphans and don’t help the poor
  • Real believers should be kind and help those in need
  • We show our faith by helping orphans and feeding hungry people
