The /t/ Sound
How to make /t/ sound:
- Put tongue tip behind upper teeth
- Stop air, then release quickly
- Make a sharp, quick sound
Words with /t/ at the beginning:
- top, ten, toy, tree, train, table
Words with /t/ in the middle:
- water, butter, better, little, bottle
Words with /t/ at the end:
- cat, bat, hat, sit, hot, eat
Writing the Letter ‘t’
Capital T: Straight line down, line across the top Small t: Line down, short line across
/t/ Blends
- tr: tree, train, truck
- tw: two, twelve, twenty
- st: stop, star, story
Exercise
- Find 5 words with /t/ sound
- Write the letter ‘t’ 10 times
- Say words with /t/ at different positions
