Content

The /t/ Sound

How to make /t/ sound:

  • Put tongue tip behind upper teeth
  • Stop air, then release quickly
  • Make a sharp, quick sound

Words with /t/ at the beginning:

  • top, ten, toy, tree, train, table

Words with /t/ in the middle:

  • water, butter, better, little, bottle

Words with /t/ at the end:

  • cat, bat, hat, sit, hot, eat

Writing the Letter ‘t’

Capital T: Straight line down, line across the top Small t: Line down, short line across

/t/ Blends

  • tr: tree, train, truck
  • tw: two, twelve, twenty
  • st: stop, star, story

Exercise

  1. Find 5 words with /t/ sound
  2. Write the letter ‘t’ 10 times
  3. Say words with /t/ at different positions
