Why Do We Take Substances into Our Body?

We take substances into our body for these GOOD REASONS:

TO GIVE US ENERGY
- Food gives us strength to play and work
- Water helps our body work well

TO HELP US GROW
- Good food helps children grow tall and strong
- Milk helps our bones and teeth grow

TO KEEP US HEALTHY
- Medicine helps us get well when we are sick
- Fruits and vegetables keep us from getting sick

TO STOP HUNGER AND THIRST
- We eat food when we are hungry
- We drink water when we are thirsty
Remember:
- We should only take GOOD substances like food, water and medicine from adults
- BAD substances can hurt our body and make us very sick
