Learning Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
- Say what swimming is
- Know basic water safety rules
Introduction:

Swimming is moving through water using our arms and legs. It is fun but we must be very careful around water.
Lesson Content:
What is Swimming?
- Swimming is moving in water
- We use our arms and legs to move
- Fish swim in water naturally
- People learn how to swim
Basic Swimming Movements:
- Move arms like you are digging
- Kick legs up and down
- Breathe through your nose and mouth
- Float on top of the water
Water Safety Rules:
- Never Go Alone: Always swim with adults watching you
- Stay in Shallow Water: Do not go to deep parts
- Hold the Side: Hold the pool edge when learning
- No Running: Walk carefully around water
- Ask for Help: Call adults if you need help
- Wear Safety Items: Use floating aids when learning
Places We Can Swim:
- Swimming pools
- Safe rivers with adults
- The beach with family
- School swimming pools
Benefits of Swimming:
- Makes our body strong
- Helps us stay healthy
- It is good exercise
- It is fun and enjoyable
Class Activity:
Practice swimming arm movements while standing (dry practice).
