Topic: Safety Rules in Swimming

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  • List safety rules for swimming
  • Know how to stay safe around water

Introduction:

Swimming is fun, but water can be dangerous if we are not careful. Let us learn important rules to keep us safe.

Lesson Content:

Important Safety Rules for Swimming:

Before Swimming:

  1. Adult Supervision: Never swim without a grown-up watching you
  2. Check the Water: Make sure the water is clean and safe
  3. Wear Safety Gear: Use arm bands or life jacket when learning
  4. Warm Up: Do simple exercises before entering water

While Swimming:

  1. Stay in Shallow Area: Do not go to deep water
  2. Hold the Edge: Always stay close to the pool side
  3. No Running: Walk carefully around the pool
  4. No Pushing: Do not push friends into water
  5. Listen to Instructor: Follow your teacher’s instructions

Emergency Rules:

  1. Call for Help: Shout loudly if you need help
  2. Stay Calm: Do not panic if something goes wrong
  3. Float on Back: If tired, float and call for help
  4. Know Your Limits: Get out if you feel tired

After Swimming:

  1. Get Out Slowly: Use the ladder or steps
  2. Dry Yourself: Use a clean towel
  3. Change Clothes: Put on dry clothes quickly
  4. Rest: Sit down and rest after swimming

Class Activity:

Practice calling for help and demonstrate floating position on land.
