Topic: How to Turn On a Computer Properly

Before Starting the Computer

Check the Power Source:

• Make sure the computer is plugged into the wall
• The power cord should be connected properly
• Look for a power light on the power strip
• Adult should check all connections

Parts We Need:

• The system unit (main computer box)
• The monitor (screen)
• Power cords for both parts
• All connections should be secure

Steps to Start the Computer

Step 1: Check Everything is Connected

• Monitor connected to system unit
• Both have power cords plugged in
• Keyboard and mouse connected
• All switches are ready

Step 2: Turn On the Monitor

• Find the power button on the monitor
• Press it once gently
• A light will come on
• Screen might stay dark at first

Step 3: Turn On the System Unit

• Find the power button on the main box
• It usually has a power symbol
• Press it once and let go
• You will hear the computer starting

Step 4: Wait for the Computer

• The computer takes time to start
• You will see pictures on the screen
• Wait until you see the desktop
• Do not press buttons while it starts

What Happens When Computer Starts

Sounds We Hear:

• Fan inside the computer turns on
• Hard disk makes gentle spinning sounds
• Small beeps might happen
• These are normal starting sounds

What We See on Screen:

• Company logos appear first
• Loading messages show up
• Desktop with pictures appears
• Now the computer is ready to use

Important Safety Rules

Always Remember:

• Ask an adult to help you start the computer
• Don’t touch wet hands on electrical parts
• Press buttons gently, not hard
• Never pull out cords while computer is on

If Something Goes Wrong:

• Tell an adult immediately
• Don’t try to fix it yourself
• Turn off and wait
• Check all connections with help
