LESSON CONTENT

What is a Guide to Food Safety?

A food safety guide gives us simple rules to keep our food clean and safe to eat.

These rules help us stay healthy and strong.

Guide to Food Safety:

  1. WASH YOUR HANDS

  • Always wash hands before eating
  • Wash hands before touching food
  • Use soap and clean water
  • Dry hands with clean towel
  1. WASH YOUR FOOD

  • Wash fruits before eating them
  • Wash vegetables with clean water
  • Remove dirt and dust from food
  • Clean food containers
  1. KEEP FOOD COVERED

  • Cover food to keep flies away
  • Use clean plates and bowls
  • Put food in safe places
  • Keep food away from dust
  1. EAT FRESH FOOD

  • Eat food when it is fresh
  • Do not eat old or spoiled food
  • Check if food smells good
  • Throw away bad food
  1. DRINK CLEAN WATER

  • Drink clean water only
  • Boil water if you are not sure
  • Keep water in clean containers
  • Cover water containers
  1. KEEP FOOD HOT OR COLD
  • Hot food should stay hot
  • Cold food should stay cold
  • Do not leave food in the sun
  • Store food properly
