LESSON OBJECTIVES

By the end of this lesson, pupils should be able to:

• Say what good virtues are
• Name 5 good virtues
• Show these virtues in their daily life

LESSON CONTENT

What are Good Virtues?

Good virtues are good qualities or good behavior that make us better people.

They help us to be good citizens in our family, school and community.

The 5 Good Virtues:

1. PATRIOTISM

• Loving your country (Nigeria)
• Singing the national anthem with pride
• Respecting the Nigerian flag
• Being proud to be Nigerian

2. TOLERANCE

• Accepting people who are different from you
• Being kind to people of other religions
• Playing with children from other tribes
• Not fighting because someone is different

3. CO-OPERATION

• Working together with others
• Helping classmates with school work
• Sharing toys and food
• Taking turns during games

4. HONESTY

• Always telling the truth
• Not taking things that belong to others
• Admitting when you do something wrong
• Being truthful even when it is hard

5. SELF-RELIANCE

• Doing things by yourself
• Dressing yourself without help
• Doing your homework alone
• Solving simple problems on your own

Examples of Showing Good Virtues:

• Standing up when the national anthem plays (Patriotism)
• Playing with all children regardless of tribe (Tolerance)
• Helping friends carry heavy books (Co-operation)
• Returning lost money to the owner (Honesty)
• Tying your shoes by yourself (Self-reliance)
