What is Tennis?

Tennis is a ball game played with rackets. Players hit a ball over a net to score points.

Tennis Equipment

  • Tennis racket – to hit the ball

  • Tennis ball – yellow and fuzzy

  • Tennis court – marked playing area

  • Net – divides the court in half

  • Sports shoes – for good grip

Basic Tennis Rules

  • Hit ball over the net
  • Ball must land inside the court lines
  • Can only bounce once on your side
  • Use racket to hit ball (not hands)
  • Take turns hitting the ball

How to Play (Simple Version)

  1. Stand behind the line
  2. Hold racket with both hands
  3. Watch the ball carefully
  4. Hit ball gently over the net
  5. Try to make it land in the other court

Exercise 3: Tennis Practice!

  1. Practice holding a racket (or pretend with a ruler)
