1. SIM Lock: The phone only works with one network (e.g., it only accepts MTN).
2. FRP Lock: The phone is stuck on the “Google Account” screen after a reset.
3. IMEI Issue: The phone has lost its “ID card” and cannot find a signal.

Today, we will learn how a technician opens these locks and what the “Rules of the Road” are for doing it legally.

SIM Unlocking: Breaking the Network Barrier

Sometimes, a phone is bought from another country (like the USA or UK) and is locked to a specific carrier like AT&T or Vodafone. If you put a Nigerian SIM card inside, it says “Invalid SIM” or “SIM Network Unlock PIN.”

• How it’s done: * Unlock Codes: You can buy a special code from the network provider and type it in.

• The “Human” Side: A SIM-locked phone is like a car that only lets you buy petrol from one specific filling station. Unlocking it lets you “drive” to any network you choose.

FRP Bypass: The “Google Lock”

FRP stands for Factory Reset Protection. This is a security feature by Google. If you steal a phone (or forget your password) and perform a “Hard Reset,” the phone will refuse to open until you type the original Gmail address that was on it.

• The Problem: Many people forget their Gmail passwords or buy “fairly used” phones without knowing the previous owner’s details.
• How to Bypass: 1. Browser Method: Finding a “hole” in the setup screen to open Google Chrome and download a “Bypass APK” file. 2. ADB Mode: Using a computer and a tool like SamFirm or UnlockTool to tell the phone to “skip” the Google check.
• Warning: Never bypass FRP for a phone that you suspect is stolen. That is a crime!

IMEI Repair: The Phone’s ID Card

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. It is a 15-digit number that is unique to every phone in the world. You can see yours by dialing *#06#.

• The “Null” Problem: Sometimes, after a bad software flash, the IMEI becomes “Unknown” or “Null.” When this happens, the phone will show “No Service” because the network mast doesn’t recognize the phone’s ID.
• The Repair: We use professional software (like Maui META or Pandora Box) to write the original IMEI back into the phone’s “NVRAM” (memory).
• Important Legal Note: In many countries, changing an IMEI to a different number is illegal because it helps thieves hide stolen phones. We only Repair the original number back to the phone.
