What is Printmaking?
Printmaking is making copies of pictures by pressing painted objects onto paper.
Two Types of Printmaking
Leaf Printing

Using leaves to make beautiful patterns
Materials needed:
- Fresh leaves
- Paint or ink
- Paper
- Paintbrush
Steps:
- Pick a leaf with nice shape
- Paint the back of the leaf
- Press leaf down on paper
- Lift leaf up carefully
- See your leaf print!
Thumb Printing

Using your thumb to create pictures
Materials needed:
- Ink pad or paint
- Paper
- Your thumb
- Colored pencils
Steps:
- Press thumb on ink pad
- Press thumb on paper
- Let it dry
- Add details with pencil
- Make animals or people!
What You Can Create
Leaf Prints:
- Garden scenes
- Tree pictures
- Greeting cards
- Decorative patterns
Thumb Prints:
- Animals (add ears, tails, legs)
- People (add arms, faces)
- Bugs and insects
- Flowers
