Why God Calls His People
God calls His people because:
He Loves Us
- God wants to have a special relationship with us
- He chooses us to be His friends
- He wants us to know Him personally
He Has a Plan
- God has special work for each person
- He wants to use us to help others
- He has a purpose for our lives
He Wants to Bless Us
- God calls us so He can give us good things
- He wants to make our lives meaningful
- He promises to take care of us
Reasons Why God Calls Us
God calls us for these important reasons:
To Serve Him
- Work for God in His kingdom
- Use our talents to glorify God
- Obey His commandments
To Tell Others About God
- Share the good news of Jesus
- Be examples of God’s love
- Help people know God
To Help People in Need

- Feed the hungry
- Care for the sick
- Comfort those who are sad
To Lead Others

- Be pastors, teachers, or leaders
- Guide people in the right way
- Show others how to live godly lives
To Pray for Others
- Pray for our families and friends
- Pray for our country and leaders
- Ask God to help people
To Build His Church
- Help make the church strong
- Bring new people to church
- Support the work of God
The Story of Abraham’s Call
Abraham’s Background
- His name was first Abram
- He lived in a place called Ur
- He worshipped idols like other people
- He was married to Sarah (called Sarai then)
God’s Call to Abraham
What God Said:
- “Leave your country and your family”
- “Go to a land I will show you”
- “I will make you a great nation”
- “I will bless you and make your name famous”
- “All families on earth will be blessed through you”
Abraham’s Response
Abraham Obeyed:
- He left his home in Ur
- He took his wife Sarah and nephew Lot
- He traveled to the land of Canaan
- He trusted God even though he didn’t know where he was going
God’s Promises to Abraham
- God would give him many children
- His descendants would be as many as the stars
- God would give his family the land of Canaan
- God would bless all nations through him
Abraham’s Faith
- Abraham believed God’s promises
- He obeyed even when it was hard
- He built altars to worship God
- He became known as “the father of faith”
What We Learn from Abraham
- God can call anyone to serve Him
- We should obey God even when we don’t understand
- God keeps His promises
- Faith means trusting God completely
