What are Rights and Duties?

Rights are good things we deserve to have as human beings. Duties are things we must do to be good citizens.

Our Rights as Children

1. Right to Life

• Right to be alive and safe
• Protection from harm
• Good food and clean water

2. Right to Education

• Go to school and learn
• Have books and materials
• Learn skills for the future

3. Right to Healthcare

• See a doctor when sick
• Get medicine and treatment
• Stay healthy and strong

4. Right to Play and Rest

• Have time to play with friends
• Rest when tired
• Enjoy childhood activities

5. Right to Fair Treatment

• Be treated with respect
• Not be punished unfairly
• Have people listen to you

Our Duties as Citizens

1. Respect Others

• Be polite to parents and teachers
• Treat friends kindly
• Help people who need assistance

2. Obey Rules

• Follow school rules
• Listen to parents at home
• Respect traffic rules

3. Keep Environment Clean

• Throw rubbish in dustbins
• Keep classroom tidy
• Take care of plants and trees

4. Be Honest

• Always tell the truth
• Return things that are not yours
• Don’t cheat in exams

5. Love Your Country

• Respect national symbols
• Sing the national anthem proudly
• Help make Nigeria better
