What are the Benefits of Democracy?

Democracy gives people many good things that make life better. When we live in a democratic country, we enjoy special freedoms.

Main Benefits of Democracy

Freedom of Speech

Freedom of speech means you can say what you think without getting into trouble.

What is Freedom of Speech?

  • You can share your ideas and opinions
  • You can ask questions about government
  • You can complain when things are wrong
  • You can praise good leaders

Examples of Freedom of Speech:

  • Students can ask teachers questions in class
  • People can write in newspapers about problems
  • Citizens can tell leaders what they want
  • Everyone can discuss issues peacefully

Rules for Freedom of Speech:

  • Don’t say things that hurt others
  • Don’t spread lies or false stories
  • Respect other people’s feelings
  • Speak truthfully and kindly

Freedom of Association

Freedom of association means you can join groups and make friends with anyone you choose.

What is Freedom of Association?

  • You can join clubs and societies
  • You can choose your own friends
  • You can form groups with people who share your interests
  • You can meet peacefully with others

Examples of Freedom of Association:

  • Joining school clubs like debate or sports
  • Going to religious groups of your choice
  • Making friends from different tribes
  • Being part of community groups

  • Learn new things from others
  • Make many friends
  • Work together to solve problems
  • Share ideas and have fun
