Topic: Writing: Composition About “My Father”

Write 10-12 sentences about your father using present perfect and past perfect tense.

Plan your composition:

  • Introduction: Who your father is (2 sentences)
  • Present Perfect: What he has done/been (4-5 sentences)
  • Past Perfect: Things he had done before (2-3 sentences)
  • Conclusion: How you feel about your father (2-3 sentences)

Use both tenses:

  • Present Perfect: My father has worked, has taught, has been
  • Past Perfect: He had studied, had worked, had learned

Think about:

  • What work has your father done?
  • What has he taught you?
  • What had he achieved before you were born?
  • How has he helped your family?
  • What makes him special?

Include these ideas:

  • His job and how long he has worked
  • Things he had done before becoming a father
  • How he has taken care of the family
  • What he has taught you
  • Why you love and respect him

Helpful words: caring, hardworking, loving, patient, strong, wise, dedicated, supportive, responsible, reliable

Sample beginning: My father is the most important person in my life. He has been a wonderful father since I was born…
