More About The Bronze Serpent
Last week we learned how Moses made a bronze serpent to heal people from snake bites. Today we will learn more about this amazing story.
Why Bronze? Bronze is a strong metal that doesn’t rust easily. God chose bronze to show that His power to heal lasts forever.
The Pole The bronze serpent was lifted high on a pole so everyone in the camp could see it. No matter where they were, people could look up and be healed.
Looking with Faith Some people who were bitten looked at the bronze serpent and lived. But some people didn’t believe it would work, so they refused to look. Sadly, those people died.
The healing only worked when people:
- Believed God’s promise
- Actually looked at the serpent
- Obeyed Moses’ instructions
God’s Love Even though the people had complained and sinned, God still provided a way to save them. This shows how much God loves us and wants to help us.
The bronze serpent reminds us that when we are in trouble, we should look to God for help with faith and trust.
