What to Look for in Pictures:

1. People – How many? What are they doing? How do they feel?
2. Objects – What things do you see? What are they used for?
3. Settings – Where is this happening? Inside or outside?
4. Actions – What is happening in the picture?
5. Details – What small things do you notice?

Comprehension Practice Passage

“The Lost Kitten”

One sunny morning, Emma heard a soft crying sound from her garden. She looked outside and saw a tiny gray kitten hiding under the rose bush. The kitten looked scared and hungry. Emma’s mother gave her some warm milk in a small bowl. Slowly, the kitten came out and drank the milk. Emma named the kitten Smoky because of its gray fur. They put up posters around the neighborhood to find Smoky’s owner. After three days, a little girl named Sarah came to their house. She was so happy to find her lost pet. Emma was sad to see Smoky go, but she felt good about helping.
