Learning Objectives

Content

Basic Colours

Primary Colours:

  • Red – like blood, fire, roses
  • Blue – like the sky, ocean, jeans
  • Yellow – like the sun, bananas, corn

Secondary Colours:

  • Green – like grass, leaves, frogs
  • Orange – like oranges, carrots, pumpkins
  • Purple – like grapes, eggplant, violets

Other Important Colours:

  • Black – like night, coal, ants
  • White – like milk, snow, clouds
  • Brown – like chocolate, tree bark, soil
  • Pink – like flamingos, roses, cotton candy

Real World Objects by Colour

Red Objects:

  • Apple, strawberry, tomato
  • Fire truck, stop sign
  • Rose, cherry, watermelon

Blue Objects:

  • Sky, ocean, blueberries
  • Jeans, police uniform
  • Blue whale, forget-me-not flower

Yellow Objects:

  • Sun, banana, lemon
  • School bus, corn, sunflower
  • Taxi cab, butter, cheese

Green Objects:

  • Grass, leaves, broccoli
  • Frog, lime, cucumber
  • Traffic light (go), spinach

Orange Objects:

  • Orange fruit, carrot, pumpkin
  • Basketball, construction cone
  • Tiger stripes, marigold flowers

Purple Objects:

  • Grapes, eggplant, violets
  • Plums, lavender flowers
  • Some butterflies

Colour Matching Activities

Activity 1: Colour Hunt Find objects in the classroom that match these colours:

  • Something red
  • Something blue
  • Something yellow
  • Something green

Activity 2: Colour Sorting Group these items by colour:

  • Red apple, blue pen, yellow pencil, green leaf, red rose, blue book, yellow banana

Activity 3: Complete the Sentence

  1. The grass is ____. (green)
