MODULE CONTENT

DEFINITIONS

Employment is the state of having a job or being employed. It is the work you do for which you are paid.

Unemployment is the state of not having a Job or not being employed. That is there is no work to do to earn money.

Under-Employment is when a person is over qualified for the job he/she is doing. For example an engineer who accept to be a primary school teacher.

CAUSES OF UNEMPLOYMENT

1. Few jobs are available
2. Lack of information
3. Corruption
4. Few industries
5. Increase in Population
6. Tribalism
7. Lack of the required skills by applicants
8. Poor economy
9. Bad Government
10. War
11. Famine and drought
12. Discrimination

CAUSES OF UNDEREMPLOYMENT IN THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS
