LESSON CONTENT

Introduction (5 minutes)

  • Introduce Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal as one of the four great founders of Islamic law

Life History of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (10 minutes)

Basic Information:

  • Full name: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Hanbal
  • Born: 780 CE in Baghdad, Iraq
  • Died: 855 CE in Baghdad
  • Known as: Imam Ahmad or Ibn Hanbal

Early Life:

  • Born into a scholarly family
  • His father died when he was young
  • Started studying Islamic knowledge at age 15
  • Traveled extensively to learn from great scholars
  • Memorized the Quran and thousands of Hadiths

Adult Life:

  • Became a famous teacher and scholar
  • Faced persecution during the “Mihna” (trial) period
  • Refused to compromise his beliefs even when threatened
  • Continued teaching until his death

Contributions of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal to Islam (15 minutes)
