Definition

Governance structure is how leadership is organized and arranged. It shows who is in charge, who helps them, and how decisions are made – like a ladder showing who is at the top and bottom.

Think of it Like This:

  • School Structure: Principal → Vice Principal → Teachers → Prefects → Students

  • Family Structure: Parents → Older children → Younger children
  • Class Structure: Teacher → Class Captain → Monitors → Students

Nigeria’s Governance Structure

Level 1: Federal (Highest) 🏛️

  • President – Number 1 leader

  • Vice President – Assists president

  • Ministers – Handle different areas

Level 2: State (Middle) 🏢

  • Governor – Leads the state
  • Deputy Governor – Assists governor
  • Commissioners – Handle state matters

Level 3: Local (Lowest) 🏘️

  • Chairman – Leads local government
  • Vice Chairman – Assists chairman
  • Councillors – Represent wards
