Some songs have the same tune even though they have different words. Today we will learn to sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” using tonic solfa notes, and we will discover other songs that use the same beautiful melody.

The song “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” uses simple tonic solfa notes that make it easy to learn. The melody goes: Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol, Fa Fa Mi Mi Re Re Do. When we sing these notes, we can hear how the tune goes up and comes back down like climbing a hill and walking back down.

Songs with the Same Tune

Many other songs use the same melody as “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” The “ABC Song” that we use to learn our letters has exactly the same tune. “Baa Baa Black Sheep” also uses this melody but with different words. This shows us that one good tune can be used for many different songs.

Learning the Pattern

The tonic solfa pattern for these songs is very special. It starts on Do, jumps up to Sol, goes a little higher to La, then comes back to Sol. Then it walks down step by step: Fa, Mi, Re, and back home to Do. This pattern is like a musical journey that always brings us back to where we started.

Evaluation

Pupils will sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” using correct tonic solfa notes. They will also identify that the ABC song uses the same melody and demonstrate this by singing both songs.
