Things to Respect in Our Society

There are important things that belong to all Nigerians.

We must respect and honor these things.

They make us proud to be Nigerians.

Important Things to Respect:

1. THE CONSTITUTION

• Most important book of rules for Nigeria
• Contains laws that guide our country
• All Nigerians must follow these rules
• Helps keep peace in our country

2. NATIONAL FLAG

• Green, White, Green flag of Nigeria
• Green means our forests and farms
• White means peace and unity
• We should never tear or dirty our flag

3. THE NATIONAL ANTHEM

• Special song for Nigeria
• We sing it with pride and respect
• We stand up when we sing it
• Shows our love for Nigeria

4. THE PLEDGE

• Special promise we make to Nigeria
• We promise to serve our country well
• We say it with our right hand on our chest
• Shows we are loyal Nigerians

How to Show Respect:

For the Flag:

• Stand when it is raised
• Never let it touch the ground
• Handle it carefully

For the National Anthem:

• Stand straight and still
• Sing loudly and proudly
• Don’t talk while singing

For the Pledge:

• Put right hand on chest
• Say it clearly
• Mean what you say

Why We Respect These Things:

• They represent our country Nigeria
• They unite all Nigerians
• They show our patriotism
• They make us good citizens
