The Story

After Jesus suffered on the cross, something very sad happened – Jesus died. But this was not the end of the story!
When Jesus Died:
- It was on a Friday (we call it Good Friday)
- The sky became dark in the middle of the day
- Jesus said, “It is finished” and died
- A rich man named Joseph put Jesus’ body in a tomb
- A big stone was rolled in front of the tomb
- Soldiers guarded the tomb
Jesus’ friends were very sad. They thought everything was over. They didn’t understand that God had a wonderful plan.
On Sunday Morning (Resurrection Day):
- Some women went to visit Jesus’ tomb
- They found the big stone had been rolled away!
- An angel was there with amazing news
- The angel said, “He is not here! He has risen!”
- The tomb was empty – Jesus was alive!
Jesus Appeared to His Friends:
- First, He appeared to Mary Magdalene
- Then He walked with two disciples on a road
- Later, He appeared to all His disciples
- He showed them His hands and feet
- He even ate food with them
Why This is So Important:
- Jesus proved He is stronger than death
- He showed that God’s power is the greatest
- He made it possible for us to live forever with God
- He defeated sin and Satan
- Now we don’t have to be afraid of death
This is why we celebrate Easter – the day Jesus rose from the dead! It’s the most important day in the Christian year because Jesus is alive!
