What We Will Learn Today
- Why God’s people complained in the wilderness
- How God helped them when they were sick
- The importance of looking to God for help

The Story
After leaving Egypt, the Israelites traveled through the wilderness for many years. The journey was long and hard.
The people became tired and unhappy. They started complaining against God and Moses. They said, “Why did you bring us here to die? We hate this terrible food!”
God was not pleased with their complaining. He sent poisonous snakes into their camp. Many people were bitten by the snakes and became very sick. Some even died.
The people realized they had done wrong. They came to Moses and said, “We have sinned! Please ask God to take away these snakes!”
Moses prayed for the people. God told Moses, “Make a snake out of bronze and put it on a tall pole. Anyone who is bitten should look at the bronze snake, and they will be healed.”
Moses did exactly what God said. He made a bronze serpent and put it on a pole where everyone could see it.
When people were bitten by the poisonous snakes, they looked up at the bronze serpent and were healed immediately!
