PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

- Identify the topic sentence in each paragraph.
- Establish the relationship between the topic sentence(s) and the main idea in a given passage.
- Attach contextual meanings to the new words found in a given passage.
- Construct sentences with the new words.

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
- To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions.
- Read the passage.
- Allows the pupils to read in pairs or groups to identify the new words and get their appropriate pronunciation.
Pupil’s Activities – Attach contextual meanings to the new words found in a given passage.
- Guides pupils to identify the topic sentence in each paragraph and relate it to the main ideas in a given passage.
Pupil’s Activities – Establish the relationship between the topic sentence(s) and the main idea in a given passage.
- Pair the pupils to establish the relationship between their real-life experiences and the main idea in a given passage.
