Topic: Formal Invitation As Opposed To Letter Writing

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

  1. Write a formal invitation.
  2. Use the structures in formal invitation.
  3. Distinguish a formal invitation from an informal one.

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils are required to already have learned formal and informal letters.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of course book and sample of invitation cards.

FORMAL INVITATION

Formal invitations are standard for events that call for formal dress, such as weddings. Addresses, dates, and times are clearly spelled out.

  2. Phrasing of the invitation – Cordially request or invites
  3. Kind of events – wedding, naming, birthday, etc.
  4. Date and time
  5. Venue
  6. Request to respond
  7. Dressing code/color of the day – champagne gold and peach
